We start with a thrilling descent down the backside of Last Dollar Pass, riding through meadows and aspen groves.
We then ascend gradually to the vast Uncompahgre Plateau.

The flora changes dramatically as we ride, a hint of the transition in the days to come. Our camp is nestled in the aspens at 9,000 feet.
MILEAGE: 55 miles / ELEVATION GAIN: 3,850 feet
Today’s ride takes us along the top of the Uncompahgre Plateau.
From Windy Point, you’ll get your first look at the majestic La Sal Mountains.

We’ll begin the day with a fantastic descent through a beautiful canyon, where the vegetation changes with every foot of elevation lost.
After a scenic lunch overlooking Unaweep Canyon, we’ll tackle the biggest climb of the trip up John Brown Canyon.
The reward for this challenging ascent is our camp on Fisher Mesa (8,300 feet).
Here, you’ll have a truly unique perspective that encompasses both the mountains and the red rock desert—a view few get to experience.
